45th Annual Decorators Showcase
The story of the San Francisco Decorator Showcase began in 1977, when Nan Rosenblatt, a former San Francisco University High School parent and an accomplished interior designer, and Philip Fernandez, the first president of the school’s Parents Association, conceived the first Showcase to raise funds for University’s financial aid program. In its first year, the Showcase netted $26,000, and today this prestigious event raises over $600,000 annually.
Showcase has taken place at some of the most prestigious addresses in some of the most breathtaking neighborhoods of San Francisco.
The Garden Apartment
Subtly echoing the rhythm of life in the garden, this thoughtfully designed space offers a layered and inviting environment—ideal for both short visits and extended stays.
At its heart, the kitchen makes a striking statement. A generous island encourages both casual meals and convivial gatherings, while hand-painted tiles featuring California-native botanicals gently offset the drama of a marble backsplash and sculptural oversized hood. A custom-colored Bluestar range in rich midnight blue grounds the space.
Adjacent, an indigo-hued built-in dry bar sets the stage for cocktail hour. The living room is a curated celebration of character and contrast—vintage finds mingle ffortlessly with artisan details, anchored by a KMID-designed birdseye maple hutch and a vintage curved sofa reupholstered in Dedar fabric. At the center, a custom serpent rug ties the narrative back to the apartment’s lush. garden muse.
In the bedroom, hand-painted Fromental wallpaper envelops the space, its motif a whimsical homage to the garden’s most faithful companion. A deep, raisin-colored velvet headboard stretches luxuriously across the wall, complemented by a floral custom rug that mirrors the apartment’s color story. A textured boucle bedcover adds a final note of tactile richness.
A vintage vanity elegantly bridges the bedroom and en-suite bath, which is bathed in dramatic Calacatta turquoise marble. Bleached ash cabinetry runs throughout, lending a sense of continuity and quiet cohesion. Finally, the guest bathroom becomes an immersive experience of its own—embracing an earthy, subterranean mood. A creeping fig mural by Lynne Millar, hand-painted atop Kelly Ventura wallpaper, creates a layered, almost mythic atmosphere that completes the story of this distinctive space.

We couldn't have made this happen without all our incredible artists, makers, vendors, and partners.
